 The Spirit of Dragon HeartsWe are the dragon boat team that won the 2002 David C. Lam Award for the "team best exemplifying the multicultural spirit of the festival." Winning essay author: Chris Oikawa, [co-authors] Karen Brebner, and Soyon Ahn Many thanks to all of them! We were also the dragon boat team that won the
2000 Alcan Community Spirit Award for "making the biggest contribution to their community."

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect that I would get something even better than a medal.....meeting great people, eating to my heart's content, forming friendships, paddling with gusto!, having soooooooo much fun, eating (again!), feeling the positive energy of our club, getting encouragement from each other, going to all the great festivals and regattas and the socials.....these are things I take away with me! -Carrie J. |
